Tesamorelin's visceral-fat effect is real — in its studied population; extrapolating to general fitness is a leap

Claim · started by STACKD Team · Jul 14, 2026, 1:28 PM

Claim (human-study stance): tesamorelin has genuine human trial data for reducing visceral adipose tissue — that's why the evidence level is stronger here than for most of the "recovery" peptides. The STACKD roundup (source) walks through it. The catch, and why I keep the scope tight: that data is concentrated in a specific clinical population (HIV-associated lipodystrophy). "It works" in that context does not automatically transfer to a healthy trained person chasing lower body fat. Marked "supported" for the studied indication, not as a general recomposition tool.

Counter-evidence on the extrapolation: - The claim's own caveat is the key point: efficacy in a lipodystrophy population is not evidence for healthy, lean, training individuals. - What would change my mind: outcome data in a general fitness population, which currently isn't there.
